Welcome to\nanother episode of our AMA series. Today we are glad to tell you about the AMA\nsession with our friends from Kawakami<\/a>, the decentralized meme token ecosystem fueled by the KAWA and\nxKAWA tokens on the Ethereum blockchain. The AMA took place on September 10 and our\nguests were @defitimesco, @esteban_shibeno, @Spacemankawa,\n@kayoderichard and @wakiita2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The total reward\npool was 500$ and was divided into three parts. In this AMA Recap we will try\nto summarize some of the most interesting points for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\ngave us a chance to build it smarter and showed real integrity on the part of\nthe team, who could have just walked away. Instead, it’s grown strongly and\nquickly since the relaunch. We think Integrity Matters in this space and don’t\njust talk about it, we do it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spaceman\n| KAWAKAMI $KAWA: <\/strong>Our ethos is that it’s easier to\nbuild on and bring together the existing communities by offering an olive\nbranch and a helping hand than it is to treat all other in the space as\ncompetitors that must be crushed. And it\u2019s more fun that way. Everything doesn’t\nhave to be a zero-sum game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And\nthat’s part of what’s so elfin’ FUN about it.And we seem to have found this unicorn of a culture, where we all\ncelebrate and support one another. it’s magic, and I’ve not found it any other\nplace. Our KawaSeed for example will be a Venture Capital for\nmemes which will be entirely run through the KawaDAO. Just like any DAO,\ninvestment proposals will be made by the community and voted upon by the\ncommunity. The team will have a pool of funds available (which we have already\nstarted stockpiling), and wherever the DAO votes for it to go, it will go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a\nlot of total supply, you provided for your native token I discovered that there\nis no preparation for KAWA token presale at all which will not allow investors\nto fund your project before it becomes publicly available, what exactly will\nyou achieve by not having at least a presale for your token? Sometimes presale\nserve as a tool for a fast awareness, how will you create rapid adoption and\ngrowth for your project? What will encourage your team members if there is no\nallocation for them in the KAWA tokenomics?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Est\u00e9ban\nKawake\u00f1o: <\/strong>There wasn’t just a relaunch, but prior\nto that a team change. We’ve been publicly available for quite some time,\nthough the relaunch(es) came quite recently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Defi:<\/strong> I\u2019m not sure if the person asking is aware that our native token\nKAWA has launched in September and doing fairly well? As for gaining ‘fast\nawareness’, we’re fine with slow and steady growth, Kawakami team, the\ncommunity and the ecosystem are here to stay, not looking for a short-term pump\nand dump solution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We’ve been gaining holders steadily ever\nsince September, literally every day we gain new holders and community members.\nThey surely do not join in hordes, but we are happy with the organic and steady\ngrowth, as everything that grows too much tends to come down even harder at\nsome point. The vision we have and the products we’re building will take time\nso we’re not in a rush to gain an army of holders overnight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“What will encourage your team members\nif there is no allocation for them in the KAWA tokenomics?” – most if not all\nthe KAWA team members bought their own KAWA tokens as for the developers, the\npeople who actually code and develop products – they’re paid a weekly salary in\nETH\/USDT which is more than enough to keep them motivated to work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

D. |\nSatoshi Club<\/strong>: btw how initially token distribution\nwas going? you had public sale or airdrop?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spaceman\n| KAWAKAMI $KAWA: <\/strong>Yeah, we are a team of people who\nreally love what we are building and wake up every day motivated to do all that\nwe can to bring forward the goal of creating something revolutionary for the\nspace the same way SHIB did.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Est\u00e9ban\nKawake\u00f1o: <\/strong>all the new Kawa tokens distributed were\nairdropped 1:1 to all old Kawa holders, yes, there was no tax before. we built\none in to make the project more self-supporting. there are also reflections.\nxKawa has a more substantial tax, and higher reflections (that’s our\nreward\/governance\/seed token).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Defi:<\/strong> no public or any sort of sale, we just did a 1:1 airdrop as Esteban\nsaid to our holders before the relaunch. Most of our holders have been holding\nimpressively, supported by the fact we’ve been crushing KAWA ATHs for weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spaceman\n| KAWAKAMI $KAWA: <\/strong>Yeah, the project was originally\nfair launched. And in the lead up to our V2 of the KawaFarm we we’re dealt what\ncould have easily been a death blow where a new dev we had hired did an exploit\nand rerouted \/ stole every token in the farm and dumped the coins. To fix this\nwe rebuilt from the ground up to relaunch and airdrop every single holder the\nexact share that was theirs prior to the exploit. Which we have since addressed\nto no longer be possible going forward with all new dev \/ team members\ninternally doxed and properly assessed prior to having access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Est\u00e9ban\nKawake\u00f1o: <\/strong>we had a very nice dip the past week or\nso for accumulating – kind of a “buying season”. That dip’s gone for\nnow anyway, I think it’s the Satoshi Bump, or maybe new floor, or maybe\nsomething more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On\nAugust 19th Kawafarm was exploited from someone whom you hired to work on your team,\nabout $196,515 was stolen by this person. I know how painful it is when a\nperson you trusted betrays that trust. Can you tell us how you and your team\ndealt with the situation and how did it affect them? How did your community\nreact to such situation? This announcement was made since August 21st, so far,\nany hope of trailing the thieves? I know security audits are important in a\nproject but it\u2019s not a guarantee that projects funds can\u2019t be hacked, so what\nother measures have you set up after this incident that such won\u2019t happen again\nand what is the level of trust amongst your team? Thanks<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Est\u00e9ban\nKawake\u00f1o: <\/strong>We sure aren’t as naive, I can say that\nmuch. Much more secure codebase and procedures. We’ve passed audits with flying\ncolors. I don’t think we’re yet focusing much on identifying the perpetrator(s),\nbut we’ll pounce & announce when they least suspect we will. it’s not our\nmain focus. for now, we’re developing and building and not looking back and\nmake good even on the non-native pools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Defi:<\/strong> yeah, what happened then was definitely a painful lesson, and on my\nbirthday no less, waking up to find out all of our and investors’ money was\ngone. we’ve immediately had a team meeting and it didn’t take long for us to\ndecide we will relaunch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spaceman\n| KAWAKAMI $KAWA: <\/strong>Yes, that certainly was a\nterribly awful day all around for the team & holders when the exploit\noccurred. Especially as the contract was renounced and we essentially had no\nway to rebuild but to relaunch. For some background on what occurred: KawaFarm\nwas exploited by a rogue developer who we hired 3 weeks prior to the exploit.\nHe was given access to the farm contract at a time when our lead dev was unavailable,\nand we had a bug needing to be resolved urgently. Unfortunately, he took this\nopportunity to undertake the exploit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This dev had good references from two other\nprojects\u2019 leaders, so we thought he was trustworthy, and the coding he did for\nus prior to the exploit was very good. However, in hindsight we realized that\nour KYC approach was lacking and for subsequent devs we have ensured we have a\nvideo call with them and have photos of their government issued ID, as well as\nbeing more vigilant when it comes to reference checking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although there was nothing wrong with the\nKawaFarm code, going forward we will ensure all of our releases are fully\naudited. This has now happened with KAWA, xKAWA and the KawaFarm – with all of\nthem passing with excellent scores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We took a lot of learning away from the\nevent. Giving up was never an option – getting peoples funds back was the\npriority. We\u2019re pleased that we were able to compensate everyone who lost funds\nin the hack, and they\u2019ve all now made a significant investment gain from the\nrelaunch. We believe our approach to the exploit has solidified the community\u2019s\ntrust in us as a team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Est\u00e9ban\nKawake\u00f1o: <\/strong>it’s spelled like this: INTEGRITY and it\nmeans something, that’s part of what we bring to the table, and part of what\nwe’re demonstrating for all to see. that you don’t have to be cynical, or a\nruthless opportunist, to win. and we want more of that in this space for now,\nit’s an experiment. we’re showing that it works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

D. |\nSatoshi Club<\/strong>: yeah, on crypto fields there are\nalways some many traps, exploits are one of them. one of my internet buddies\nlost all his crypto like a couple of days ago, he was completely compromised,\nhacker stolen all his funds – thousand and thousand dollars. and he didn’t even\nknow how it is happened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Defi<\/strong>: I\u2019ve personally lost all the eth is mined in 2017 on a hacked\nledger wallet, as well as being scammed for 85eth in 2020, so I know how it\nfeels having funds stolen or getting hacked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spaceman\n| KAWAKAMI $KAWA:<\/strong> Yeah, it’s terrible how people\nwill take advantage of others, you really must be careful nowadays. We\ndefinitely don’t take these things lightly anymore and have made a focus on\nsecurity ever since this occurred.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It also has added to our vision for what we\nare bringing to the table with KawaTools which will be similar to Dextools\nhowever with one important difference (among others) that all listed projects\nwill have gone through a screening process as to not have any scams \/ honey\npots or other bad projects listed with our focus being investor safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While\nobserving your website in the moonsheet section, I saw few memecoins being\nlisted including their current price, holders, market cap and also the gains\nfrom them since, they are launched. Therefore, beside a meme coin platform,\ndoes Kawakami also performs as a meme coin index for all the memecoins? Is that\na promotional paid advertisements or Kawakami will list out the best memecoins?\nHow could a meme coin reach you out, for listing their token in your platform?\nLastly, we know that memecoins are known for BSC. But Kawakami bas been\ndeployed in Ethereum network? Is there any specific reason behind this?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Defi:<\/strong> We’ve listed some of the most popular meme projects to compare to\nKawakami just to show the actual growth potential of our project\/tokens. No\nprojects listed in the moonsheet are paid advertisements, but we intend to\nintroduce paid ads once. We will have an index\/leaderboard once our KawaTools\nproduct launches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As for partnering with other meme tokens,\nwe have a partnerships form on our yield farm platform where interested parties\ncan send us an application and then we send them the value prop to weigh pros\nand cons of joining the platform. listing on KawaTools, which will unite all\nour products into a single tool once launched, will be announced when it’s\nready.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

D. |\nSatoshi Club: <\/strong>will you be always mainly focusing on\nmeme projects? or you aiming to work with the “serious” ones as well?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Defi:\n<\/strong>You say that memecoins are known for BSC, but\nwouldn’t you agree that the biggest and most successful ones are on ETH?\nRegardless, we are actively working on our BSC bridge and looking into L2\nsolution like Arbitrum to make it easier for investors to join our community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our intention is to focus on memes as we\nbelieve there’s plenty of potential and opportunities in that space. However,\nyou never know what the future brings, crypto moves at an incredible pace so\nthere’s no telling what new ideas we may have in 6 or 12 months from now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spaceman\n| KAWAKAMI $KAWA:<\/strong> Our focus is memecoins but ones\nwith a real dedicated and serious team behind them. That’s really what is\nparamount is giving investors an easy and accessible way to access the meme\ncoin market without falling into the trap of the ENDLESSLY launching P&D\ncoins that are often abandoned shortly after release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According\nto you plans, KawaSwap will be launched within this quarter. I am familiar with\nplatforms such as PancakeSwap and SushiSwap. Is your platform like them? You\nhave stated that it will be a revolutionary decentralized exchange. Can you\ngive a sneak peek of its features that make KawaSwap a revolutionary exchange?\nFurther, what are the benefits available for $KAWA and $xKAWA holders and\nstakers on KawaSwap?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Defi:\n<\/strong>yes, KawaSwap was planned for Q4 this year however\nthe website is getting a full revamp, including the roadmap, as we’ve added new\nideas and products to our pipeline such as KawaTools, of which KawaSwap will be\nan integral part. The new website should go live by the end of this year with\nthe updated roadmap. The new launch date for the swap platform is whenever\nKawaTools gets deployed, or shortly after, so likely in 2022. One of the\nKawaSwap features will be to have a percentage of swap fees distributed among\nthe token holders (KAWA, xKAWA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As for staking, that is reserved for\nKawaFarm, a product that’s already live and can be used. We don’t want to\ndeliver half-baked products and it made sense to pursue KawaTools first based\non how popular memecoins have proven they are. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

D. |\nSatoshi Club: <\/strong>do you have any plans on your NFT\ncollection? maybe with some real use cases on your platform?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spaceman\n| KAWAKAMI $KAWA:<\/strong> Yeah, and it’s more of a unique\nand useful contribution to the space as opposed to yet another swap. So that’s\nthe reasoning for the roadmap being slightly changed \/ updated regarding KawaSwap\ntiming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Defi:<\/strong> Absolutely, we want to make sure they’re created with a purpose,\nnot just for the sake of chasing trends with no utility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

with everything we build in the Kawakami\necosystem, we want to give it a purpose and utility and NFTs are no different. First,\nwe’ll be releasing NFT badges (they’re already created and will be teased this\nweek) which will be awarded to community members and investors based on their\ninvolvement and criteria met, the NFT badges will also be used to redeem our\nfirst collection of NFTs when it releases. One of the NFT utilities will be\nstaking them on KawaFarm for a boost in the weekly token yield, the plan is\nalso to use them heavily in a metaverse we intend to start developing sometime\nin 2022, as well as other products like KawaTools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hello\nKawakami team. You announced that the new KAWA token contract introduces a\ncouple of simple reflection features to the relaunched token. Unlike the\noriginal token which had no extra features, the new one will include the\nfollowing: 2% KAWA swapped to ETH on every buy or sell transaction on Uniswap\nand sent to dev fund. Why did you decide to make this modification to the\noriginal tokenomics? Why will the distribution be in ETH and not in the KAWA\ntoken? Thank you!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Defi:\n<\/strong>It’s simple, we\ndo need some form of income to keep the project more sustainable and pay the\ndevelopers, as we’re not code developers ourselves. It also allows for other\nexpenses like marketing. As for why it swaps it to ETH, it’s so that we can actually pay for these\nthings. Not everyone is willing to accept payment in non-standard tokens and we\ncertainly don’t want to dump KAWA tokens to pay for things. It’s standard with\ntax tokens actually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However,\nthe contract is not renounced and the reason for this is that we will likely\nlower or disable tax completely once we start getting income from other\nsources, like advertising on KawaTools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Est\u00e9ban Kawake\u00f1o: <\/strong>Which, I might add, is just getting started. We’ve come this far on\nsweat, through word of mouth, and by tweeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spaceman\n| KAWAKAMI $KAWA: <\/strong>It\nwas really an essential move to set we up to compete with the other bigger meme\ncoin projects which in a lot of cases have a much higher tax and allows them to\nmarket as heavily as they do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to this 1% is reflected to all\nholders as well btw!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

D. | Satoshi Club:<\/strong> can community vote for change that fee (2%) rate somehow?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Est\u00e9ban Kawake\u00f1o: <\/strong>Yes, of course! As in all things related to the project. The\ncommunity actually governs in an authentic way here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If it were made known that developers were\nnot being fairly compensated, we’d move immediately on making it right. No\nquestion about it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Richard – Go 1000x or Go home: <\/strong>The plan is to have enough fund to do all we have planned. We keep\nspending what we receive up till now on moving the project forward. We have a\nlot lined up for November already. Billboards, Dext banner, and even CEX\nlisting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The \u201cKawaSeed\u201d is Kawakami\u2019s venture\ncapital investment fund which will be governed and mandated by xKAWA token\nholders. Given the nature of your project which is a meme coin, does this mean\nyou will only be supporting fellow meme coin projects as well? Will that be the\ncase the will this program be applicable for all crypto-related project\nregardless of its focus and sector. Would you care to discuss more about this\nfeature\u2019s limits?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Est\u00e9ban Kawake\u00f1o: <\/strong>Initially our targets will be for memecoins – but that doesn\u2019t mean\nwe cannot expand beyond them over time. It wouldn\u2019t make sense to narrow our\noptions down this early.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

D. | Satoshi Club: <\/strong>and btw please tell us more about billboard campaign and upcoming\nCEX listing. and what else we can expect soon from you?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Est\u00e9ban Kawake\u00f1o: <\/strong>Our first CEX listing is imminent. We’ll be on LBank within hours if\nthere are no unexpected snags. Deposits are already open and LBank have\nannounced it via Twitter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spaceman\n| KAWAKAMI $KAWA: <\/strong>Yes,\nit\u2019s certainly not a rule that we will only invest in memecoins, ultimately the\nmain focus is profitable investments that will be spread amongst holders of\nxKAWA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

D. | Satoshi Club: <\/strong>but how will tax (1%) be distributed to holders who prefer to trade\non CEX? are you already solved this somehow?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yes, their great dev team got it\nimplemented in record time and will be available from the outset. It’s a\nseparate pool though, will be drawn from transactions on the CEX<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is KAWAKAMI Aims to\nbe a Multi Chain Platform, can you tell me Which Blockchain does It Support, and\nWill you Introduce other Blockchains also in the KAWAKAMI Project in coming future?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spaceman |\nKAWAKAMI $KAWA: <\/strong>We are currently on\nETH network and are launching any moment now on Lbank for our first solution to\nthe high fee nature of the ETH network. We are also currently developing a BSC\nbridge to enable cheaper decentralized trading on BSC network. And in addition\nto this the team is exploring developing a bridge for a new popular ETH L2\nnetwork – Arbitrum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We’re REALLY excited\nabout the possibilities Arbitrum offers, for example, having a KawaFarm native\nto Arb network means saying goodbye to high transaction fees for staking. We’ve\nlistened to our customers and they’re asking for it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Est\u00e9ban\nKawake\u00f1o:<\/strong> Plus, being able to\nstake and unstake on either network would be a HUGE benefit. So, we’re looking\nat these questions and moving decisively to solve the high transaction fee\nproblem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spaceman |\nKAWAKAMI $KAWA: <\/strong>KawaSeed will be a\nventure capital fund led by the Kawakami DAO. The aim also includes gaining\npresales for memecoins as well. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Simply put, the\nadvantage for xKAWA holders who will earn part of the interest on all KAWASEED\ninvestments passively is giving these small holders access to the kind of\ninvestment opportunities that are only available to a VC fund and reducing\nindividual risk while increasing opportunity for investment and opening the\ndoor for partnerships and overall growth of the space. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You’re right in that memecoins are saturating crypto right\nnow – but it’s important to remember that the only ‘mainstream’ ones are Doge\nand Shib. Most (let’s say 99%?) newly released dog\/memecoins are scams but\ndespite that the market is clearly hungry for them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kawakami is doing\nwhat needs to be done, which is to fill a hole in this burgeoning market to\nbring more credibility to it by creating an ecosystem on which memecoins can\ncompete on an even playing field where ALL memecoins listed are the 1% that has\nan actual team and plan behind them. Est\u00e9ban Kawake\u00f1o:<\/strong> The Kawakami Inu is a very rare and ancient breed of Japanese dog. Do\nyou know what “Inu” means? You probably know but just don’t know you\nknow – it’s dog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kawakami Inu were dogs bred with wolves.\nThey are so rare that I believe there are only a few hundred individuals,\nmostly to be encountered in Nagano Prefecture, Japan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
