Give us a brief introduction to the project. What is the essence of Block Brawlers

Block Brawlers is a play-to-earn 3v3 game, running on a dedicated Skale chain.

You put together your team of 3 Brawlers, send it off into the Arena, where it battles other Brawlers, and earns you BRAWL tokens.

 (the entire game is powered by BRAWL – arena plays, buying Brawlers, levelling up, etc)

As i know it’s not so easy to build a game, how long did it take you to build what you gave, guys?

Paul Barclay

Well… that’s a funny story. We originally built the core of the game back in 2018. Before Opensea, before play to earn, before anything really. But we shelved it – the world wasn’t ready for it, as gas costs to play were outrageous. Recently, we put it back together, added in the modern tech like play-to-earn (and added leaderboard ranked play too), and released it on Skale. Doing that, we get to use Skale’s gas-free networks, so it’s basically free to play now.

Overall, it’s about 9 months of work total over that time.

And if we do all our future plans, it’s about another 9 years of work…

We didn ‘t want to make something where you grind for 8 hours just to get a couple of bucks (looking at you, Axie). Hello Block Brawlers’ Team.

My solid believe is that every project that comes into inception in the DeFi/GameFi space comes with a new invention or perhaps an innovation. In this regards, Tell us; What new does Block Brawlers’ bring to the DeFi and GameFi space? Can you compare Block Brawlers with some GameFi flagships (For Ex. Splinterlands and Cryptoblades) and pin point the distinctions that Block Brawlers has over these big projects. How will you ensure that Block Brawlers will adapt easily to subsequent advancements/changes and upgrades that may be seen in the DeFi/GameFi space in time to come? How do you aim to make the platform a fortress for users; what are your user rentention strategies?

The biggest thing we can do here is always keep growing. One of the challenges that games often face is when the players out-pace the content. You see that a ton in the current crop of crypto games; they haven’t learned from the Facebook/mobile games of the last 10 years

We don’t have that problem – we’ve been in that world that long.

And, in terms of gameFi, the big problem you see (again, looking at you, Axie), is the models are fundamentally unsustainable.

What is your solution?

Paul Barclay

The Block Brawlers model is the opposite. The play-to-earn rewards model is self-correcting, so that it won’t continually create new tokens; instead it recycles the tokens that people spend. This lets us give out P2E rewards indefinitely, but without creating inflation.

And without the big 95% crashes you see on those other projects.

As more people join the project, more P2E rewards get unlocked, but there’s always a limit, and always a cap.

 (again, this is all learnings from the traditional mobile gaming space – ensuring your economy doesn’t break is kind of a default task for us, but most blockchain games don’t even consider it, because all they care about is making a quick $ and then running away)

According to your Roadmap, a mobile version of Block Brawlers Game will be launched in Phase-03. What kind of new & innovative features will there be in Mobile version? Can you give us a sneak peek about your upcoming mobile version? Will it be supported for both of the ios & android? Some P2E mobile version games are not attractive because they are not evolving & enhancing with the new technologies. Will you update the Block Brawlers mobile version with time to time in future? Just to add to this, BlockBrawlers is a very casual game. You don’t necessarily need blockchain or gaming experience to pick it up. Literally anyone can get started fairly easily which enriches the experience for everyone. A game is nothing without players.

I’m going to be really honest here. No, I can’t give a sneak peek until we’re ready to release. Mobile game dev is all about iterating until you find a model that’s perfect. What I can tell you is that it’ll be in the dungeon crawler vein, and it’ll use the Brawlers that you own (and have been leveling up). And of course, it’ll be updated frequently, be iOS and Android, and be incredibly user friendly – those are must haves for any mobile game.

Regarding the Legendary pack of the current sale, it includes 3 legendary Brawlers, and there are 30 packs in existence.

So my question is, when you say that there are 30 packs, do you mean that there are 30, copies of the same legendary NFTs? Are all the NFTs unique or just with limited copies? and Besides that, what are the advantages of legendary Brawlers against regular Brawlers? Is it just a value/monetary difference, or does it imply improved skills?

So, the way that the public sale works, there’s a limited number of each of the 6 packs (for the Legendary pack, that limit is 300). Our first batch on sale is 10% of that, so there were 30 available.

Now, you can level up NFTs all the way to L20, and when you do, you get to make choices – what stats to boost, what abilities to boost.

After going through your game plans,I gathered that Block Brawler is designed to be a “Play Occasionally”, not a “Play All Day” game.I am one person that if I love a game I will like to play all through that day of have the the time,but I notice that Block Brawlers is different.So can you tell us why you choose to design your game that way?And is it that the amount of Brawlers I have will be equivalent to time I spend in the day?For example if a player have 40 Brawlers,does that mean the time that will be allotted to that player will be 40 minutes for the hold day? Isn’t it possible for that player to get more Brawler and continue in the game?Please explain this for a better understanding.Thanks

We made this decision because Block Brawlers is a 100% on-chain game. If you have an on-chain game with a “play all day” pattern, you’re limited to supporting a thousand or so players. But Block Brawlers can support hundreds of thousands.

There’s no limit to the amount of time you can spend making your choices and playing; the only limit is that your Brawlers go on cooldown after they fight (this ensures that each Brawler doesn’t earn too much)

What many people will do is use their Brawlers to earn BRAWL, then use that to buy more Brawlers (each new Brawler costs 1000 BRAWL).

So you can build your team.

And the cool thing about that is that the more brawlers you have, the better teams you can make – you can take advantage of synergy bonuses from having all the same alignment or clan, and take advantage of the right mix of stats.

Now, a mobile game is a different story – that won’t all be on-chain, so it’ll be way more gameplay for you.

In my personal experience as a player so far, I can tell you strategizing which Brawlers to send in to the arena as a team is half the fun. If you collect enough Brawlers, you can spend quite a bit of time sending them all into the arena. And you can do it again later in the day once the cooldown period expires. So you’ll have some early in the day matches and be excited for the wins you may get in your evening matches. If you had a bad morning in the arena, you can pick it up and give it another shot later in the day. It’s not quite only a few minute experience, but maybe so if you only have 3 Brawlers total. More is always better!

On your website, I read that Block Brawlers features an online marketplace. Clearly point out the unique features of your in game marketplace that makes it better than other P2E in-game marketplaces. What are the rules that governs transactions in the marketplace to ensure that all initiated transactions goes of in a trustless and decentralised manner as per one of the principles of blockchain? Will the marketplace employ a Peer 2 Peer structure? What sort of transactions can be initiated on the Marketplace? What currency will be used on the Marketplace? What is the fee structure of the Marketplace?

What we’ve done, to ensure the maximum security, and ease of use, is partnered with Skale and their upcoming NFT hub, for trading Brawlers. We do have a marketplace built into the site, that’s 100% smart contract based, but we’re not turning it on because we want to get the benefits of being part of the wider Skale ecosystem, and we think that’s the best experience for players. But, if that changes, we can turn on the internal marketplace, and it’s 100% trustless already.

We also just turned on a “Send brawler” feature, that lets you transfer your Brawlers to another account (this isn’t a new feature, it’s just using the smart contract function, but it’s nice to have the UX right there on the site). So if you want to organize your brawlers, it’s easy now.

We’re waiting for the Skale NFT hub to launch (which should be happening soon), so we don’t fragment the market. Until then, players should focus on leveling up their Brawlers to make them more attractive to buyers.

I read that each Brawler on Block Brawlers is generated with a unique combination of class, clan, starting traits and abilities and each Brawler has a unique value in strength, magic, and dexterity, plus several special abilities. My question is, should we buy the most expensive Brawler if we want the best performance? How can we find more information on aforesaid categories such as classes and clans? What is the method to find which class/clan is the best? After purchasing a Brawler, can we exchange/upgrade it to a better one in due course using Game Credits? Can we purchase a single Brawler instead of getting a pack?

There’s no “best” brawler, or “best” clan. Each has its own advantages and drawbacks. What I’d recommend you do is build a good team. Look for Brawlers with abilities that work well together.

You can buy individual Brawlers for BRAWL, rather than buying a pack.

In BRAWLERS each fighter has four attributes which are: Strength, Magic, Dexterity and Health. Can you explain what are the characteristics of these attributes? How do these attributes work in the game? and finally. Will the brawlers also have special abilities from the beginning of the game or will we have to level up to obtain abilities and advantages in the game?

Great question. Health is the easiest – your health goes to 0, and you’re dead. The other three are the combat stats. In combat, each Brawler picks one of those stats, and fights against one other Brawler. The stat you choose matters a LOT. Strength is strong against Dexterity. Dexterity is strong against Magic; Magic is strong against Strength. You’ll not that the icons remind you of Rock-Paper-Scissors? That’s deliberate! So, it’s not just about picking your best stat, it’s about looking about what the other teams have chosen, and picking stats to best defeat them.

Could you tell us a little about Brawl Chain? I understand that the assets would be sent to this network, but really, what other utility would this chain have? Could it be that in the future it will become a blockchain intended for games?

Shhhh. Don’t let the cat out of the bag. Those are our Super Secret Evil Plans (TM).
The chain is a Skale-powered chain, so it has all the benefits of security and interoperability. But it’s a chain we can build on in the future, so could other games use it? Absolutely.

I read your all tokens from community sale will be unlocked immediately Can you please tell me how are you going to control the dump ? Do you have any anti-whale dump policy or something like that?

The public sale tokens are unlocked immediately. But… buying those is extremely limited; each user can’t buy more than one of each pack in the public sale. So, we won’t end up with the giant whales that plague other projects. What we’re seeing is that all those users are turning around and using those tokens for what they’re intended for: Gameplay.

Introducing Glory Planet

Glory Planet is a hybrid decentralized metaverse project built on the Build and Build Chain (BNB Chain) with multi-chain intentions. It blends DeFi and the metaverse to provide a unique play-to-earn gaming experience that eliminates the uncertainty of getting rewarded. It is set in a major metropolis. The outstanding Glory Planet project allows users to create multiple personas, and use relevant technologies to construct and create their community. It also enables these users to engage in real-life practices such as making friends, leisure, work, and more. Users will be issued a G-Pet with a personality depending on their astrological sign as well as get rewarded for their efforts in training their G-Pet through missions.

Users will be able to play and win various rewards by accomplishing worthwhile mission objectives. They can use these awards to advance in the game or exchange them for a profit on the Glory Planet Market or a CEX/DEX. The creation of a full game ecosystem will provide players with a variety of ways of using their reward points within the game to boost their earning potential, lowering the amount of liquidity put into the market.

The Glory Planet Market will house all of the NFTs and assets required for the game. Once purchased, the NFTs will function with the metaverse, or games within the metaverse, in a variety of ways. Glory Planet also allows its users to stake rewards earned in the game to earn additional money via liquidity mining on Glory Planet.

Glory Planet’s Gameplay

Glory Planet has interesting gameplay. If you are not very time conscious, you might just find that you have spent the entire day training your G-Pet through scaling through amazing missions/challenges in the game. For one to participate in this amazing game, you first have to buy a set of NFTs from Binance/Glory Planet’s NFT marketplace. After buying these NFTs, you will be allowed to join the Glory Planet game and earn cool rewards that you can sell for profit.

There are amazing features that make the game super fun to play; our two favorites are G-Pets and Mystery Boxes. Mystery Boxes provide players with either an outfit or item in the form of an NFT. Each participant will be given a G-Pet depending on their date of birth after registering on the Glory Planet app (e.g. Pisces). Players will gear their G-Pets with the NFTs provided in the mystery box, and they will be ready to begin their first mission to play and collect rewards.

Initially, players will be challenged with training their G-Pet by performing various levels of tasks. When further game updates are introduced, the missions will extend to cover all facets of daily metaverse life and more. Upon onboarding, each assignment lasts 30 days, with extra missions unlocked at future stages.

We are largely a B2B2C project, meaning that our enterprise-grade solutions are used by businesses across the world. Our 4 core businesses are:

1. Crypto Payment Acceptance – Helping merchants and businesses accept cryptos as a form of payment (while paying them in their preferred local fiat currency)

2. Fiat Payment Rails – Enabling Web3 and crypto players such as crypto exchanges accept fiat payment modes such as credit cards, debit cards and Alternative Payment Methods (APMs – such as mobile wallets, domestic faster payment services)

3. Crypto On- and Off-Ramps – Enabling consumers to easier buy and sell cryptos using mainstream payment methods (see fiat payment rails) so they can access the world of Web3 seamlessly, DeFi, NFT, Metaverse and more!

4. White Label Crypto Card – Empower crypto issuers and crypto players to issue their own Visa and Mastercard that can be recharged with crypto-assets and be spent across over 65 million merchants globally.

Hello Alchemy Pay Team – At your last AMA held here on Satoshi Club on August 20, 2021, one of your members John Tan, while answering a question as it relates to your “Payment Protocol Rewards”, did said (at present) then, Alchemy pay incentive mechanism focuses on one main goal, actual usage and demand for Alchemy services (which require the pledging of ACH), and I’m curious to know whether there has been some modifications in the area of your “Payment Protocol Rewards” since your last AMA here, and if actually there has been any, could you share such update/development with us enthusiasts ? Lastly, you did further said that Alchemy Pay at that time was currently building a reward system for your community that can help drive usage of your services. Could you please explain to us the current position of your “Reward System” as of now, pursuant to your community to help drive usage of Alchemy services ? Thanks for answering.

Well – that was me! Haha.

Our goal has never changed – Alchemy Pay continues to function as a bridge between the fiat and crypto worlds. This solves the fundamental issue of our industry whereby it’s difficult for the fiat holders to get into the crypto world (most of you should know how challenging it was to buy crypto with your local fiat money) as well as using your crypto to access real-world goods and services.

We started off with providing crypto and fiat payment acceptance with the solution with pioneered in 2019 – the World’s First Hybrid Fiat-Crypto Payment System. As mentioned, we are now also providing crypto ramps and white label crypto card services.

Our rewards system is still very much integrated into our 4 core services, where all partners using our services are rewarded with ACH tokens for driving transactions on our gateways. For instance, merchants are well incentivised to process crypto transactions because it’s ~70% cheaper than typical credit card transactions as well as receiving ACH as rewards for driving crypto transactions!

While most of the rewards are targeted at merchants, as it’s designed to attract more enterprise users to make our services available to end consumers (hence the B2B2C model), we are now working towards rewards for consumers too!

This is for our Crypto On- and Off-Ramp services whereby end users who buy/sell cryptos using our platform will begin to receive ACH as a form of reward. We’re still trying to work out the best method to integrate this 2C rewards without dis-incentivising our existing enterprise partners. After all, the enterprise partners sit at the heart of our entire ecosystem and are the ones that drive up demand and usage of $ACH token in the form of pledges and transaction fees.

We all know that security is one of the most important aspect of the Crypto world, KYC and AML procedures are considered a necessary part of cryptocurrency’s adoption by the mainstream. Alchemy Pay (ACH) has partnered with BASIS ID for comprehensive, global Know-Your-Customer and Anti-Money-Laundering verifications. Can you briefly give us more information on your partnership with BASIS ID? What does the Alchemy Pay benefit from this partnership? Can you briefly describe the process of the KYC process of your platform? What are the kind of documents needed to pass these KYC process? How long does the process take?

Being the bridge to and fro the fiat world, we work with financial institutions such as banks, card issuers and card acquirers to facilitate transactions that interact with the world of crypto.

This poses great risk of money laundering as you can effectively view crypto wallets as a anonymous bank account. As such, we take great care to ensure we KYC our customers to ensure their source of funds are legitimate. However, traditional and manual KYC methods on its own can be an obstacle for adoption of crypto as it’s often a lengthy process! Users want a seamless and real-time transaction – nobody wants to wait 1-2 business day before they can buy/sell their crypto while waiting for KYC to be approved.

This is why we partnered up with Basis ID (recently acquired by ZignSec, who will be our KYC partner going forward) – to provide us with real-time KYC services. Ensuring our users receive KYC approval results in matter of seconds.

$ACH is used for transaction fees, rewards for network use, and lowering transaction costs. Can you briefly explain about these usecases? Do users need to pay a fee for every transaction? How much is the fee? When you say $ACH lowers the transaction fees, there must be alternative methods to pay fees. What are the other payment methods for transaction fees? If $ACH is used to pay the fee, what is the discount I get? Is it like 50% or a small percentage like 1%? Moreover, what are the $ACH rewards for network use? What do you consider when distributing those rewards? Does $ACH work as a reward token and a utility token on Alchemy Pay?

For most of our services, transaction fees are covered by our enterprise partners.

Using the example of a credit card transaction, merchants often pay 3-5% in transaction fees to the payment company they work with, these payment are only settled to merchants in 1-2 weeks (called settlement period, where merchants receives the money for the transaction process.

Ah – this is a good point i didn’t capture earlier. Our business team follows a top-down strategy, where we work with synergistic partners that will help us grow our business the fastest. For example, instead of providing crypto acceptance services to a single merchant, we seek out payment companies that have thousands of merchants to conduct an integration. One such integration will enable crypto payment option for all of these merchants! We believe that this will be the most effective strategy in growing our business in the fastest trajectory (consequently, driving crypto adoption in the shortest time possible).

Our new core businesses – such as crypto ramps – also follows the same strategy, for example, while we can provide crypto ramp services to allow users to buy and sell cryptos against fiat money. I am a regular buyer of Shopify. I saw Shopify is one of your mainstream partners. Normally, I am using my credit card or paypal as the payment method. In the future, will I be able to pay with $ACH? If yes, why should I shift my payment method. Do I get any discounts/offers for $ACH payments? Since the value of cryptocurrencies is not stable, does the price differ according to market conditions? For example, can a pair of shoes be 500 $ACH in the morning and 750 $ACH in the afternoon? BTW, do you have any plan to partner with major platforms such as ebay, amazon and AliExpress? Regarding volatility, this is the reason why merchants working with us will never have to handle crypto volatility. For example, if a merchant sells a pair of shoes that cost $100, Alchemy Pay enables the merchant to receive a wide variety of cryptos and wallets such as Binance Pay, Bitcoin, Ethereum, USDT (across popular chains ERC-20, TRC-20, SOL and more) and our system will auto calculate the quantity of crypto payable for $100 in real-time. Post the transaction, merchant collects $99 (less $1 in transaction fee) in their local currency!

To clarify, while $ACH can be used to pay for real-world goods and services, our hybrid payment system accepts all mainstream crypto and fiat payment methods.

For discounts and offers, this is something we advise our merchants to provide. For instance, since they are paying 3.5% for credit card transaction and 1% for crypto transactions, we advise our merchants to provide some form of cashback for crypto payments since both their customers and them will end up saving!

We see that merchants are slowly opening up to this idea. it’s still relatively new but we believe it’s an inevitable future.

All credit cards’ so-called rewards/points are all funded by consumers. Merchants pay for high card fees which is a part of operational expenses that needs to be passed down to consumers. Times change, and so does money. We believe that in the next 3-4 years, credit cards will begin to phase out. This is already apparent in major industry trends! Not too long ago, Amazon threatened to ban Visa in the UK.

Before we pioneered our hybrid system, a solution that we launched in 2019 which was the world’s first payment system with such dual acceptance capability. Before that, crypto acceptance services provided by our peers such as BitPay and PundiX could only accept cryptocurrencies. Our solution was labelled by veterans in the payment industry as revolutionary because it helped to open merchants to the idea of crypto acceptance.

Now, you may wonder why that is so. Try this – the next time you step into a café or restaurant, take a look at their cashier counter, most merchants already have to use multiple devices to accept a variety of payment methods such as credit cards, mobile wallets and other local domestic payment methods. As a result, merchants were to resistant to adopt these solutions as they have to take on a whole new payment system to accept crypto, which is something they are not even familiar with.

In our line of business – particularly payments and crypto ramps, we have to partner up with local payment institution – whether it is to power them with crypto payment acceptance or securing local payment channels from them so that our ramp services can process this transaction.

The latter option is a critical step for the entire web3 industry because most crypto ramp services providers, such as MoonPay or Simplex, can only allow users to access the world of web3 via credit card transactions. We want to ensure that everyone can access Web3, even with bank transfers, local mobile wallets, domestic faster payment services and more!

Our relationship with local FIs have always been synergistic and we expect these relationships to continue flourishing!

Alchemy Pay does not issue cards directly to consumers (apart from very limited NFT edition as well as our own staff ) – this is a value-added service we offer to our enterprise clients so that they can issue a crypto card under their own brand – we launched this line of product to meet the demands of our enterprise clients.

We feel that this service is necessary during our transition towards a more crypto-dominant global market, but we do project Visa/Mastercard transactions to scale down in the next few years. Accordingly, our white-label card service is something we expect to set lesser priority on in time to come.

In order for our business strategy to stay effective for the long run, we constantly monitor the stats of crypto users around the globe! As of this very moment, Korea ranks among the top 10 globally so you can be sure we will focus on the Korean Markets.

Our BD team members are often in touch with Korean projects to find out how we can support them, this includes trying to secure local payment channels such as Kakao Pay and remittance corridors to send KRW into Korea bank accounts.

On the other hand, our corporate team will be ramping up efforts to ensure $ACH is listed on the top Korean exchanges! Oh, we have also quite recently engaged a marketing team to spread the word in Korea of the great work we are doing at Alchemy Pay.

Our project was birthed after speaking to our current end clients – the merchants who wanted a simple way to accept crypto payments without handling crypto volatility, integrate multiple APIs, operate a new POS etc.

While our mission does not explicitly state this, we can only bridge the fiat and crypto economies by providing solutions that value add to our clients. And we can only add value to clients if we know what they need/want – this is why our account managers collect feedback from every client per quarter!

What is needed to set up the Alchemy Pay POS in a business, does it require prior verification of the business or KYC, do I need any special equipment?

We conduct KYB for all businesses looking to accept crypto payments using our system. This is because we are effectively helping merchants convert the inbound crypto payment into fiat money – just like a crypto exchange. This poses a risk for money laundering which is something we try to mitigate on daily basis with our MLRO.

Alchemy Pay does not manufacture a POS – rather, we develop the application that can be installed on any android-based POS to start accepting crypto (after KYB is completed!).

i) If you already have a POS, you may install our application
ii) If you do not have a POS, you may request for one in the market we support, OR, you can simply install our application in your android or iOS mobile devices!

Most of our profits are injected back into our business – which explains for our tremendous growth.

However, you are right to point out the existing challenges that is present in markets where most are underbanked or unbanked. In the past 6 months, we stepped up our efforts in driving crypto acceptance in the Africa region. Often holding discussions with government officials from African nations such as Botswanna, Jaimaica, Sudan, and more (believe some of these were shared across our Twitter).

To us, CSR is never an after-thought. We have 2 team members that constantly works on this. We have something really amazing brewing – hope we can share that with you guys once that can be made public – we will be gathering crypto industry leaders to leverage the power of Web3 to save lives!
